Poetry as an Exploration of Emotional Awakenings

Sometimes, an emotional tremor is all it takes to wake us, triggering a moment of self-awareness that may lead us through a powerful growth experience. Other times, an emotional awakening might require something a little more earth shattering, forcing a radical redirection that tells us it's time to move on. Often, we find ourselves initiating the tremor to force growth for ourselves or someone we care about. These are awakenings I refer to as GrowthQuakes. 

Within these moments of emotional awakening, if we are receptive to it, we have the power to detect and ride out our own GrowthQuakes. The outcome? A new awareness that can be used as a tool to help us navigate relationships and challenging moments in our lives.  

The poems shared here represent a few of the GrowthQuakes in my own life journey. They are reflections of how I interpret the world around me, relate to the people in my life, and navigate the often mysterious and sometimes challenging circumstances in which these GrowthQuakes occur.
